About Me

photo-11I fell away and fell and fell until my wings opened and I flew and soared to hidden mountain tops and secret heavens. And behold, my Beloved was there to welcome me home.

I am a Reclaiming Witch who was ordained as Southern Baptist minister by an anarchist Christian tradition. I am also the founder of an intentional Pagan community in Oakland, a writer for Patheos (Born Again Witch) and PaganSquare (Cross and Pentacle), and a connoisseur of devotional music from different countries and religions.

When I was younger, I was a Jesus Freak. I was baptized when I was fifteen and I was a teenage leader in the Jesus Freak movement that was sweeping across Germany.

After graduation in Germany I came to Seattle, WA, where I was introduced to American fundamentalist Christianity. Within half a year I was “betrothed” to and within less than a year we were married.

I earned a decree in Theology and Biblical Languages from Multnomah University in Portland, Oregon and later became an ordained as a minister. For three years I was in a band touring all over the US, playing medieval music and speaking on issues of theology and justice.

My divorce came suddenly and fed the questions and doubts I was already struggling with. I tried atheism but failed miserably (atheists don’t yell at God). I decided to explore polyamory and fell deeply in love with my freedom and ability to love and be loved. At the summer solstice of 2012 I took a plunge into the San Francisco ocean and have been studying as a Reclaiming Witch ever since.

Thank you for your inspirational website. I am a retired Christian pastor who has become interested in, and attracted to, Witchcraft and Paganism. So I was delighted to discover your site. Please accept my sincere thanks and compliments.
